WHY GUATEMALA FOR BILL FISHING?
Guatemala is recognized internationally as having the world's highest concentrations of Bill fishing. The unique swirling of ocean currents between Mexico and San Salvador create a naturally occurring eddy rich in bait and pelagic fish where sailfish, marlin, Dorado, yellow fin tuna and more gather to feed.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE OF RELEASES?

It is not unusual for one of our boats to release 25 Sailfish in one day. During 2003-2004 season one released 52! The average daily release rate per boat is between 15 and 20 sailfish, and the world record for the most sailfish released in one day was set here by our very own Captain Hook in 2002, with 75! In fact, Guatemala holds both the conventional and fly-fishing records for the most sailfish caught in a single day

TACKLE

Our fleet is equipped with high quality Penn International and Shimano Tackle for conventional or spin fishing.
In addition to conventional tackle, fly-rod users have had great success with Sailfish and Marlin in the waters off Guatemala. Frequently we see 5 or 6 Sailfish released in a day by one boat from a fly-rod, and recently one of our boats hauled in a 225 pound Marlin while fly-fishing!
We kindly request that fly fishing anglers bring their own tackle with them.
BILLFISHING ETHICS

Understanding the absolute necessity of preserving our marine wildlife, we follow a very strict policy of conservation. We practice 100% catch and release of all Bill fish and use only circle hooks - which are more effective and less harmful to the fish.
Ballyhoo filled bait coolers is the only bait that we use.
WEATHER

During the dry season (mid October to mid June) the weather on the Pacific Coast of Guatemala is sunny and warm all day. During the rainy season (mid June to mid October) it's typically sunny in the morning with seasonal late-afternoon showers. The temperature averages in the 80´s year-round during the day, typically with cooler nights. The seas are usually very calm.
